Care Instructions For Endless Knot Products

At Endless Knot, we craft our rugs to last. Follow these care instructions to take care of your rug for years to come.

Receiving Your Material

Upon receipt of your material, remove any crate or wrappings to inspect for damage. Verify that you received the correct product and color.

  • Manually handle the rug with a flat-top dolly with coasters.
  • Do not use fork or pole lift heisters.
  • Do not drag the rug.
  • You must lift the rug into position.

Storing and Transporting your Hand-Knotted Rug

Hand-Knotted rugs require careful storage and handling.

  • Wrap the rug in a protective fabric or plastic covering for storage and transport.
  • Keep the rug in a dry, temperature-controlled interior.
  • Store the rug off of the ground.
  • Make sure the floor is free of any debris before placing the rug.
  • Do not drag the rug.
  • Unroll the rug in place.
  • Check the rug for signs of damage every few months.

Installing Your Rug With a Rug Pad

We recommend using a rug pad to preserve the life of your rug.

  • Center the pad under the rug.
  • Leave 1” of space along the rug perimeter.
  • If the rug is wider than 12 feet, cut the pad to the appropriate sizes and join the pieces together with double-stick tape.

Wool Rug Care Instructions

Wool rugs are extremely durable. They are well-suited to corridors, conference rooms, and offices. A naturally occurring oil in wool called lanolin also makes wool rugs more resistant to stains than other materials.

Shedding is inherent to wool rugs and primarily occurs within the first 3-6 months. All of our wool rugs use long-fiber wool that is less prone to shedding than shorter varieties.

  • Rotate the rug every three months to avoid uneven fading and wear.
  • Vacuum the rug as needed using suction only — do not use the bristles.
  • Avoid pulling loose yarns. If necessary, clip them to be even with the pile height.
  • Spot clean as needed using a damp (not wet) cloth with warm water.
  • Do not use soap or cleaning products — they can damage or fade the rug.
  • Send the rug to a professional cleaning service for large or deep stains.
  • Use a rug pad to preserve the life of the rug.

Silk and Silk Blend Rug Care Instructions

Silk rugs are prized for their exquisite luster and rich texture. Silk fibers lend themselves to dense knotting — they can create rugs with highly detailed, beautiful patterns.

  • Rotate the rug every three months to avoid uneven fading and wear.
  • Vacuum the rug at least once a week, and twice if it’s in a high-traffic area.
  • Vacuum using suction only — do not use the bristles.
  • Avoid pulling loose yarns. If necessary, clip them to be even with the pile height.
  • Remove spills immediately by blotting with a clean, undyed cloth. Press firmly around the spill to absorb as much as possible.
  • Lay flat to dry after spot cleaning. If the rug is drying under the sun, place it facedown to avoid fading.
  • Send the rug to a professional cleaning service every few years. Do not dry clean the rug.
  • Store the rug by rolling it front side out and wrapping it in a protective cloth.
  • Never fold the rug for storage.
  • Use a rug pad to preserve the life of the rug.

Tencel™ and Tencel Blend Rug Care Instructions

Tencel is a fiber fabricated from wood pulp. It’s known for its soft feel and relaxed sheen that mimic the qualities of silk, and it can hold deep, vibrant colors.

Tencel rugs are characterized by tonal variations that may be affected by a room’s lighting as well as the rug’s angle. Shifting highlights and lowlights in the surface color of the rug are to be expected.

  • Rotate the rug every three months to avoid uneven fading and wear.
  • Vacuum as needed in one direction — do not vacuum back and forth.
  • Vacuum using suction only — do not use the bristles.
  • Do not spot clean or use any liquids on a Tencel rug.
  • Do not rub stains, as this can make them settle more deeply.
  • Send the rug to a professional cleaning service for any stains.
  • Use a rug pad to preserve the life of the rug.
